NBA

In 2021, it was estimated that there were 2.5 million data points per athlete gathered from wearables, tracking systems and other legacy data systems. By 2025, that number is expected to increase 9000% to 230 million data points per athlete. The massive increase in data surrounding athletes offers a unique opportunity for companies that are able to harness the influx of data and transform that into actionable insights that increases performance and decreases injury and risk. Within the NBA, because of the quality and quantity of data available through systems such as Hawkeye, we see a unique opportunity to leverage this data to provide insights that can help teams optimize how they manage their athletes.

Load Measurement

Pose data unlocks the ability to track whole-body motion, as opposed to just one point on the body, with higher frequency and higher resolution. We use this to redefine how we are measuring on-court loads by providing more detailed load metrics including measurements of left-right symmetry and body-region specific loading. This allows us to provide insights into how an athlete's load profile changes over time, how it compares to other athletes, and how it impacts on-court performance and risk of injury.

Shooting Mechanics

Biocore can provide individualized analysis of in-game shooting mechanics and performance, trend reports, league benchmarks, and more. Pose data allows us to ask and quantitatively answer questions such as how an athlete's shooting mechanics change over time or how does an athlete's shooting mechanics compare to other athletes? Biocore can assist you in leveraging data insight to improve scoring via optimized shooting mechanics.

Running Mechanics

Pose data allows us to ask and quantitatively things such as how do fatigue, injury, or other factors impact an athlete's running mechanics? Is an athlete ready to return to play after an injury? Do their running/landing mechanics display patterns that are frequently associated with lower extremity injuries? How do an athlete's running mechanics compare to other athletes? How do an athlete's running mechanics change over time? We can help you answer these questions and investigate other questions about how an athlete's running mechanics impact injury risk and their on-court performance.
