Dr. Kerrigan is the Commonwealth Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia (UVA) and Director of UVA’s Center for Applied Biomechanics, which is the largest university-based injury biomechanics research lab on earth. He has nearly 25 years of experience in conducting injury biomechanics research and training the next generation of academic and industry research professionals. His research portfolio includes mechanical characterization of human tissues, human body computational modeling, injury countermeasure design, field data analyses and surrogate development with investigations spanning the entire human body from head – literally from head to toe. Dr. Kerrigan’s research has been supported by industry, government, and academic research institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia, and the impact of his work has shaped automobile safety regulations and industry standards worldwide.
Dr. Kerrigan, now on leave from UVA, has joined Biocore full-time as Chief Scientist to apply his experience and expertise to the NFL’s Player Health and Safety research programs.
